Adjusting Your Loft

  • Pillow loft can be adjusted by unzipping the core and adding or removing filling. 
  • Because filling can be messy, we recommend doing this over a kitchen sink (with the drain plugged) or outdoors.

Classic Latex Pillow

  • Shredded latex core is washable in cold water. Secure zipper with a safety pin before washing.
  • Hang core to dry on a breathable rack.
  • Do not expose the pillow’s core to direct sunlight or heat.
  • The pillow protector that came with your pillow can be washed in cold water, hang to dry (shrinkage not guaranteed).
  • We recommend using a breathable pillowcase to extend the life of your pillow and to keep it clean.

A natural latex pillow is made from the sap of the rubber tree, a renewable and eco-friendly resource. At Obasan, we use only GOLS-certified organic latex , shredded into small pieces to create a soft, breathable, and adaptable texture.

This results in a pillow that molds to the shape of your head and neck, while maintaining firm and comfortable support . Unlike foam or synthetic fiber pillows, it remains naturally hypoallergenic, dust mite resistant, and durable.

The natural latex pillow offers a unique balance of comfort and support. It promotes healthy spinal alignment, helping to reduce neck and shoulder tension. Its open-cell structure allows for excellent air circulation, preventing overheating during the night and ensuring a cool, dry sleep. 

The adjustable filling allows you to easily add or remove latex to customize the height and firmness to your needs. Because it's made from organic latex, it contains no harmful chemicals or artificial fragrances. Furthermore, it retains its shape and support much longer than a conventional pillow, making it a comfortable, healthy, and sustainable choice.

Organic latex comes directly from the sap of the rubber tree and contains no chemical additives. It is known for its durability, breathability, and hypoallergenic properties. 

Synthetic latex, on the other hand, is produced from petrochemical derivatives. While generally less expensive, it is also less environmentally friendly, less durable, and offers less comfort. 

Blended latex combines the two: it reduces the price, but it doesn't provide the same health, support, and longevity benefits as 100% natural latex. For these reasons, Obasan exclusively chooses certified organic latex.

A natural latex pillow adapts to a wide variety of sleeping positions. Sleeping on your back benefits from balanced neck support, helping to prevent tension upon waking. Sleeping on your side provides effective support that reduces pressure on the shoulders and keeps the head aligned with the spine. Even sleeping on your stomach remains comfortable, provided you slightly reduce the filling to create a flatter pillow. Thanks to its adjustable filling, this pillow suits all body types and accommodates every sleeping style, from children to adults.

 A natural latex pillow requires minimal maintenance to remain in perfect condition for many years. Regular airing is recommended to allow air to circulate and maintain its freshness. 

Using a protective cover made of organic cotton is ideal for minimizing wear and tear and preventing stains. The shredded rubber core is washable in cold water. 

Please ensure the zipper is securely fastened by clipping it with a safety pin to prevent the rubber filling from escaping during washing. Hang the core to air dry. With these simple steps, the pillow will retain its shape, comfort, and support year after year.
