Congratulations on your new mattress. Crafted with organic materials and intentional design, your Obasan mattress may feel slightly different from what you’re used to—and that’s by design.
The first one to two weeks of sleeping on a new mattress is a natural adjustment period. Much like breaking in a new pair of shoes, both your body and your mattress need time to adapt to one another. During this time, the cover may gently relax as the natural materials settle and begin to respond to your body.
We recommend allowing a full 30-night adjustment period before making any changes to internal layers. If, after this period, you continue to experience persistent discomfort night after night, please reach out to our team. We’re here to help fine-tune your sleep experience.
Mattress Setup & Foundation Requirements
To ensure proper support and long-term performance:

Place your mattress on an Obasan foundation or a solid wood slat base

Slats should be 1–4 inches wide

Maximum spacing between slats: no more than 3 inches apart

Double, Queen, King, and California King sizes require centre support

Mattress Protection & Breathability
Always use a mattress protector to extend the lifespan of your mattress and maintain hygiene.

Avoid placing your mattress directly on the floor or on a solid, non-breathable platform. Natural materials require airflow to regulate temperature and moisture effectively.
Cleaning & General Care
To preserve the integrity of your mattress:

Do not expose to direct sunlight or heat sources
For light maintenance:

Unzip the outer cover and spot clean gently with mild soap and minimal water

Allow all areas to air dry completely
Long-Term Maintenance
To extend the life of your mattress:

Rotate internal cores every 6 months

This helps ensure even wear and consistent comfort over time
Note: Failure to rotate internal layers may impact performance and could affect warranty coverage.
